AOI Operator

JOB SUMMARY: Position operates the Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine and reviews identified defects for accuracy

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) paste, component placement and solder joint defects
• Load programs per documentation
• Visually inspect PC boards to confirm acceptable soldering
• Using magnification aids, inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards
• Recognize problems in the operation process or with components and highlight/communicate those problems to machine operator for immediate correction
• Alert production operations of any ongoing defects in products
• Ability to sit for most of the working day
• Must be able to read and understand process sheets (work routers), VAs (visual aids), and assembly drawings for component identification and component polarity
• Basic Computer Knowledge
• Work within other areas of department when needed
• Perform intermediate level preventative maintenance on machinery
• Keep equipment clean and in good working order
• Enter transactions into computer, complete logs and records as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

• Quality control and part identification experience
• Successful completion of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Safety training and IPC-A-610 certification
• Knowledge and/or skill in operating equipment used in the area
• Soldering experience toward IPC-J-STD-001 is helpful

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Technical school or associate degree in electronics or experience in production of printed circuit boards preferred
• Willingness to learn new skills
