JOB SUMMARY:

Camp North Homes is seeking a dedicated and skilled On-Site Handyperson/Groundskeeper to maintain the property and grounds of our beautiful camp. The ideal candidate will live on-site and be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and improvement of all camp facilities and outdoor areas, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for campers and staff.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:

General Maintenance

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, cabins, and facilities including light plumbing, light carpentry, painting, and minor construction.

Groundskeeping

  • Maintain the camp grounds, including mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, watering, and removing debris.
  • Ensure all outdoor areas are clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing.

Equipment Upkeep

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair camp equipment, tools, and machinery to ensure they are in safe working condition.

Safety Compliance

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of the property and facilities.
  • Address any hazards or maintenance issues promptly to ensure the safety of campers and staff.

Emergency Repairs

  • Be available for emergency repairs and maintenance issues outside of regular working hours, as needed.

Waste Management

  • Manage waste disposal and recycling processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations and maintaining a clean environment.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Camp Director to prioritize maintenance tasks and coordinate efforts with other staff members.

Documentation

  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.

All Other Duties As Assigned

Other duties may be assigned to this position periodically depending on the needs of the agency and/or Human Resources Director.

Requirements:

Education: High School Diploma or GED


Experience: Proven experience in general maintenance, groundskeeping, or a similar role. Experience working in a camp or outdoor setting is a plus.


Skills: Proficiency in a variety of maintenance tasks including light plumbing, light carpentry, and landscaping. Ability to operate and maintain tools and machinery.


Physical Ability: Capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions.


Communication: Good communication skills with the ability to interact positively with campers, staff, and visitors.


Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Flexibility: Willingness to be on call for emergencies and to work flexible hours as needed.


Individual must be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyle, race and/or economic status of clients.


Must be 21 years old and have a valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
