We are currently searching for a 2nd shift Maintenance Tech for our New Bremen, OH location. 2nd shift runs 1pm to 11pm Monday thru Thursday. If you have experience or the desire to learn, we want to talk to you We offer a competitive hourly shift premium, in addition to competitive hourly wage. Salary is based on specific industry and machine knowledge and experience.

As a Maintenance Tech 1 at Opus Packaging you can expect to produce corrugated or chip packaging products for our customers in coherence with promoting the corporate vision, mission statement, and core values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity reading blueprints and parts breakdowns.
  • Welding and blow torch knowledge, along with a large variety of hand tools.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Ability to properly use and understand the required measurement equipment including tape measures, micrometers, and other tools as required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping.
  • Perform general preventive maintenance duties per machine schedule.
  • Fix issues that might occur during the shift.
  • Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws.
  • Maintain activity logs.

What you need to be successful at Opus Packaging:

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedural documents.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Work safely.

It’d be great if you also have:

  • Previous experience in warehouse or packaging environment.
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to properly use and understand the required measurement equipment including tape measures, micrometers, and other tools as required by specific jobs.

During a normal workday you can expect to:

  • Respond to floor calls-write work orders for further work required.
  • Perform PM’s on a timely basis.
  • Repair machines-complete work orders.
  • Read and understand Hydraulic and Pneumatic Schematics.
  • Communicate between shifts and with operators.
  • Be able to start up all machines, production and support machines.
  • Clean up after jobs are complete.
  • Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk and hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of hand tools move levers and press pedals to drive and control lifting apparatus on forklift, clamp truck, or any other maintenance equipment.
  • Bend, reach, stoop, squat and stand for 8 hours.
  • Have good hand - eye coordination.
  • Occasional lifting of 50 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-20 pounds.
  • Understand machine set-up, machine runs, plant data entry, handwork, or assembly assignments
