REPORTS TO: Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor
LOCATION: Stewart International Airport
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Equipment Maintenance Foreman, provide a wide variety of tasks associated with repairs and routine maintenance of all Airport equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for completing all assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision in a professional manner. Quality and efficiency of work performed are base requirements.
- Ensure all actions of self and others are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
- Competent in the use of variety of hand and power tools to complete assignments.
- Inspect tools and equipment on a regular basis to ensure the safety of self and others.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and tools associated with assigned tasks.
- Assist other work centers when necessary to ensure timely completion of work projects.
- Part of snow removal team. Assist in snow removal, ice control, sanding and salting as required, to ensure safe operation of Airport.
- Must observe all safety rules, fire regulations and good housekeeping practices.
- May be required to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather, frequently at heights. Exposed to hazards of trades.
- May be required to work rotating shifts and/or overtime
- May perform a wide variety of other tasks that are necessary to maintain Airport equipment.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of materials/parts used and remaining in stock.
- Must follow all Airport, Company, and FAA security regulations.
- Responsible for keeping all tools, equipment and materials secured and stored in a safe manner when not in use.
- Assist Foreman in estimating materials and man-hours on maintenance projects when required.
- Must follow all Airport, Company, and OSHA safety regulations, including, but not exclusive to: Ladder/Scaffold safety, Fall Protection safety, Confined Space Entry safety, Lockout/Tagout safety, and Pesticide handling/application safety.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a 4-year High School or Vocational School is preferred. Knowledge of hand and power tools and vehicle maintenance background a must. Possess 3 years of experience of progressively and responsible related skill. Must have New York State Motor Vehicle Class B drivers’ license as a condition of employment.
