Position Summary

The Purchasing Manager will play a pivotal role in optimizing and managing our supply chain operations – both domestic and international, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and seamless coordination from procurement to delivery. We purchase from both domestic and international suppliers, and each requires a different strategy and approach.

The Purchasing Manager will analyze market trends, forecast demand, and mitigate risks to optimize the procurement process. By leveraging knowledge of supply chain management and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement, they will contribute to the overall success of Oz Lifting Products’ purchasing operations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supplier Relationship Management: Evaluate supplier performance, contract negotiations, and establish strong relationships to secure favorable terms and ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Communicating, interfacing, relationship-building and continuous monitoring of vendors to obtain profitable contracts. Develop vendor qualifications and ensure effective onboarding.

Forecasting and Demand Planning: Collaborate with teams to develop and implement accurate demand forecasts, aligning procurement and production activities with customer demand fluctuations.

Risk Management: Monitor supply chain risks, develop mitigation strategies, and proactively address disruptions to minimize impact on operations. Ensure supply chain processes meet legal and industry regulations. Ensure and maintain documentation on supply chain processes to meet legal and industry regulations.

ERP/MRP Integration Liaison: Take a lead role in the system set-up of new ERP/MRP.  Be the ERP Super User.  This includes implementation, customization and integration. Collaboration with senior leaders will be imperative to understand how the software works and its impact on business processes—and know exactly what the ERP/MRP does for our business. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that an ERP system is functioning to meet our business needs.

Data Analysis: Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to assess supply chain data and inventory levels, identify trends, and implement actionable insights for improvement. Provide an End-of-Year cost rollup, including Cost Variances. 

Inventory Management: Implement strategies to optimize inventory levels, minimize carrying costs, and reduce stockouts while ensuring product availability. This includes oversite of inventory, item coding, bar code and QR code entries, forecasting in collaboration with sales and identifying cost saving opportunities.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency enhancements within the supply chain, driving continuous improvement initiatives. Work to identify work center efficiencies. Identify process, business and purchasing opportunities

Reporting and Communication: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate key findings, performance metrics, and make recommendations to the Leadership team to help positively impact profitability, efficiency, and customer experience.

 

Controller-Level Work with Accounting: Work closely with the accounting team on internal spending via purchase orders and approval of expenses.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL TRAITS

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in supply chain analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Working knowledge and experience within an ERP/MRP system. Experience with system integration process a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills resulting in the ability to prioritize multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Attention to detail/accuracy.
  • An ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and stress while maintaining a calm, professional demeanor.
