Seltzer’s Smokehouse is looking for a highly skilled Buyer who is ready to join us as we head into a new chapter in our amazing story. With a renewed vision from our next generation CEO, the iconic Seltzer’s brand is preparing for national expansion through innovation, creativity, and forward thinking.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production and Inventory Analyst is responsible for effectively purchasing, planning, and scheduling our raw material and finished goods needs for both internal/external customers. This includes coordination between the production, sales, operations, logistics, and finance to efficiently utilize current inventory and raw material sources to meet customer demand most profitably. They evaluate and recommend vendors to the Plant manager for approval as well as determining the most cost-effective inventory and reorder levels. They will also negotiate price, delivery and credit terms with all vendors.
                                                                                                                                        Responsibilities​​

• Review, analyze, and coordinate effective utilization of raw material and production facilities/teams to meet customer demand. Ensure optimal inventory levels are held to meet current and upcoming customer demand.
• Schedule and direct production needs and track production performance to schedule minimizing overtime and maximizing plant yields.
• Procurement of raw materials and packaging for the Lebanon and Palmyra Plants.
• Development and implementation of cost reduction projects.
• Negotiates pricing directly with suppliers. Establishes payment terms, delivery, mutually agreeable specifications, and mutually agreeable lead times. Establishes standard costs for some purchased raw materials and packaging.
• Places orders for raw materials and packaging and ensures materials are delivered on time. Places orders based on quality, service and price considerations.
• Search available products to find the best combination of quality, price, and delivery
• Negotiate policies and contracts with various suppliers
• Monitor stock levels and verify purchase requisitions
• Maintain professional relationships with all key suppliers
• Assist Quality with obtaining and keeping current supplier quality/food safety documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a purchasing and planning role
• Experience in an MRP & ERP environment
• Proficient with Excel including pivot tables, formulas, Vlookup functions
• Previous Production/Inventory Planning, Logistics and Continuous improvement leadership experience a plus
