1st SHIFT - PRODUCTION LEAD (Steel) - OMAHA

$1500 Hiring Bonus

$21 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 4:30pm, including Fridays

The Production Lead will monitor activities and assists with the supervision of various production personnel. Operate and maintain equipment, and applicable components, to achieve optimum production, consistent with proper safety and quality requirements.


Essential Functions:

  • Perform and meet the expectations established in the relevant Machine Operator job description.
  • Direct the shift personnel based on guidance from the Supervisor to ensure maximum production consistent with proper safety and quality requirements. This entails but is not limited to:
  • Work with department supervisor to establish and develop new processes and training for all new products.
  • Take the lead role in training department personnel on equipment and processes in your assigned area.
  • Work with and instruct employee's on performing successful changeovers/adjustments to manufacture good product consistent with company standards.
  • Monitor safety, attendance, quality, productivity, and housekeeping in assigned department.
  • Redirecting personnel who are not performing job tasks that contribute to the department's success.
  • Assign tasks during downtime.
  • Monitor safety, quality and process /methods being utilized by department personnel. Train and/or Redirect personnel who are not meeting acceptable standards.
  • Assist Supervisor/Manager with performance issues, verbal warnings, document any and all performance related counseling/warnings.
  • Reports daily shift activities to the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Makes decisions based on the objectives of the operations when situations arise where no clear guidance has been provided. Informs the Supervisor/Manager as soon as possible.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Specifications: KSA's (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):

  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to operate a tape measure, micrometer, ruler and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Experience:

  • One year minimum employment within the department preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and technical expertise in assigned area.
  • Good safety record (i.e. no safety violation write-ups, no negative observations).
  • Good communication skills (i.e. legible handwriting and reading skills).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet quality expectations consistently.
  • Consistent attendance, if currently employed with the Company.

Education: GED, High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.

Work Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving equipment and parts on operating equipment. The noise level in the work environment is a low level. There is limited exposure to heat and cold temperatures within the facility due to limited climate control. Employee may be exposed to wet concrete or slippery surfaces.
