Sayres is seeking a Shipboard Damage Control Production & Test Surveyor with Secret Clearance located in Mobile, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Perform test witnessing, progressing, and technical engineering assessments of assigned damage control, fuel, oil, air, and auxiliary support systems.
  • Maintain the capability to assist other test specialists with various Naval Shipboard testing/progressing on EPF and EMS class new construction vessels.
  • Provide clear and concise reports on a daily basis and have the ability to brief complex events to upper management within the SUPSHIP and NAVSEA organizations.
  • Develop spread sheets, graphs, and power point presentations dealing with testing status and physical progressing of shipboard systems.
  • Support testing and trials events as needed, including riding the ship, during trial events to perform tasks at hand.
  • Weekend work may be required during milestone events such as trials or launch.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise on United States Naval Ships damage control, fuel oil, lube oil, HP and MP air and associated support systems.
  • Assists in construction oversight and review to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Develop, review, and provide appropriate feedback on test procedures for assigned systems.
  • Responsible for testing support, trials support, and associated problem resolution for assigned systems.
  • Provide production and engineering support for associated and related systems and equipment on the EPF and EMS class ships.

Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates

  • Bachelor's degree with Four or more years of experience in ship damage control system design and testing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills in computer assisted design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD or DWG TrueView.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills for the planning of tests/experiments and execution of system tests and ship trials.
  • Organization and time management skills.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, team members, vendors, and contractors.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Four or more years of experience in damage control system design and testing.
  • Experience working with applicable regulatory, commercial, and military standards and classification society rules.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret clearance and maintain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Skillsets:

  • Familiar with Ship Build Specifications, Naval Vessel and High Speed Naval craft requirements and guidelines, Naval Ship Technical Manuals, and other Military standard items used in the industry.
  • Active Secret security clearance verifiable in DISS.
