Otterbein has an employment opportunity for a Healthcare Admissions Counselor - Sales. The ultimate objective of the position is to meet or exceed occupancy objectives and sales goals by managing all activities associated with the admissions and sales process for Nursing, Post-Acute (rehabilitative care) and Assisted Living apartments. In this role, the position is responsible for maintaining relationships with hospitals to drive referrals for residents needing long-term nursing and/or post-acute (rehabilitative) care. Additionally, they are responsible for initiating contact with prospective assisted living residents (and /or their families), nurturing the relationship and ultimately closing the sale and admitting the prospect to the community.

The Healthcare Admissions Counselor - Sales must possess the ability to assess potential admissions, and work to admit the resident to the campus. This includes performing pre-certifications, verifications etc. as well as executing contract signings. They will work to develop and manage the contact and lead database, make outbound calls to provoke interest and field on campus or on location appointments, conduct appointments and tours to complete the process; and represent Otterbein at various public functions.

Otterbein Granville is situated on 94 wooded acres conveniently located about 30 minutes east of Columbus. This Life Plan retirement community features 135 independent living villas and apartments, 29 assisted living apartments, and 20 skilled nursing suites, for both post-acute rehabilitation and long-stay nursing care.

Salary: Starting at $50,000 (annual) plus commissions

Responsibilities

  • Meet/exceed admissions and occupancy sales goals
  • Establish relationships with assigned hospitals (administrators, doctors, social workers, and discharge planners) to drive referrals for patients needing long-term nursing and/or post-acute (rehabilitative) care.
  • Engage referral partner interactions, both identifying and engaging new contacts and maintaining relationships with existing referral partners
  • Manage prospect, resident and family interactions including pre-admission conferences, hospital visitation and bedside sales.
  • Plan and execute community and referral partner events, designed to identify new lead opportunities and relationships with key referral organizations and partners
  • Assess potential referrals or potential admissions, and work to admit the patient to the campus. This includes performing pre-certifications, verifications etc. as well as executing contract signings.
  • Continually update an accurate contact management database, with all activity such as walk-ins, calls, letters, invitations, etc. and analyze and use data to drive sales results.
  • Build relationships with existing and new prospective residents and move them effectively through the Otterbein Healthcare "Sales Funnel."
  • Build relationships with a network of key referral partners representing targeted hospitals, doctor's offices, senior centers, churches, social work environments, etc.
  • Answer incoming calls and walk-ins, conduct campus tours, sales calls, home visits, luncheons, and all duties related to lead generation and follow-up.
  • Effectively communicate information and answer questions pertaining to financial and admissions requirements and documentation for prospective residents
  • Develop a detailed understanding of prospective resident's needs and work with Environmental Services to prepare the residence to meet these needs.
  • Interact positively with visitors, residents, family members and community members and be able to effectively address a variety of issues and circumstances.
  • Develop and strengthen collaborative working relationships with internal departments and staff including identifying and helping address areas of improvement to enhance the quality of living at Otterbein.
  • Assist Marketing Director in coordination of marketing/admission events and encourage participation of current and prospective residents.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of successful sales experience
  • B.S. in Marketing or Business Management preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Mission-driven passion for serving older adults
  • Excellent customer service skills, good judgement and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication skills: listening, verbal and written
  • Must be detail oriented, able to prioritize and utilize effective time management skills and be flexible to adjust to impromptu situations on a regular basis
