Job DescriptionJob DescriptionInterstate Advanced Materials Portland location currently seeks a weekend CNC Saw Operator to set up and operate our computer numerically controlled (CNC) Saw equipment, as well as other manual Saws such as chop saws, table saws, and band saws. They must be able to work with great concentration and precision, with a keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude, and comply with all safety guidelines. They also unload raw materials, perform test runs, and inspect and measure finished products.
This weekend shift runs Friday – Sunday, 6: a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Responsibilities Include
  • Prepare and operate CNC and manual saws to produce finished parts and part blanks for secondary operations
  • Operate overhead cranes to load large sheets of material into the machine.
  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading work instructions, blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function
  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts
  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
  • Provide feedback to maximize programs for better run times, material yields, and scrap rates
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly ensuring quality and accuracy
  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality. Maintain quality control documents and update setup information
  • Work as a team with other employees to help the branch reach its goals

Requirements:
  • Mathematical skills: Add, subtract, multiply, divide. Compute rate, ratios, & percentages
  • Ability to read standard measuring equipment such as rulers and tape measures
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Attention to detail and results-driven
  • CNC experience is a plus as well as precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read & interpret prints/drawings is a plus
  • Communicate positively & effectively with coworkers
