Job Summary
The Childrens Clinic of Fredericksburg is seeking a skilled and meticulous Medical Assistant to join our Mobile Medical Vehicle healthcare team. This Medical Assistant will play a vital role in providing diagnostic services to our mobile medical vehicle program. This person will be responsible for specimen collection, processing and data entry for patients seen in the mobile vehicle environment. This person will also be responsible for maintaining hospital-grade cleanliness within the Mobile Medical Vehicle to keep patients and team members safe. The ideal candidate will have an outstanding focus on attention to detail, lab test accuracy and cleanliness. This position requires proficiency in laboratory techniques, a commitment to quality patient care, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and ever-changing environment. Technical proficiency as well as a professional attitude and excellent customer service are very important for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of lab materials, as well as patient preparations, to ensure smooth operations in the work area and non-interruption of patient and customer services.
  • Addresses patients needs efficiently, effectively, and confidentially.
  • Performs nasal swabs on patients of all ages accurately and efficiently following proper laboratory standards and procedures.
  • Follows all required processes for positive patient identification, (2 patient identifiers)
  • Responsible for precise labeling of all samples as dictated by appropriate policies.
  • Responsible for precise execution of all specimen collection as dictated by appropriate policies.
  • Responsible for test order entry, patient information including data entry, and specimen information data entry in the laboratory computer system accurately and efficiently.
  • Provide oral or written reports upon request from physicians and nursing staff.
  • Lab Tech is accountable for all specimens collected. Must communicate processing delays to the supervisor immediately.
  • Adheres to procedures, standards, and protocols to ensure effective operations and quality patient care.
  • Must adhere to patient confidentiality policies.
  • Creates an atmosphere that fosters teamwork and cooperation with staff and leadership.
  • Displays a positive attitude and professional appearance.
  • Ability to multi-task and cover other functions as needed.
  • Prepares and tracks specimens for delivery to base sites.
  • Communicate with leadership to ensure accurate and timely delivery of supplies, and reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • One year of phlebotomy experience or successful completion of an accredited, structured phlebotomy training program.
  • ASCP phlebotomy certification desired.
  • Previous customer service experience helpful.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to stay focused on a mobile unit with consistent movement.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired
