Assistant Memory Care Director of Nursing

  • Help develop the annual budget and monitor its success.
  • Share nurse calls with DON and take part in the Manager on Duty rotation. Serve as a backup to the DON when necessary.
  • Drive to family meetings using company and personal vehicles.
  • Set quarterly and annual objectives to achieve personal and operational goals with improvement and innovation in mind.
  • Choose your staff by hiring a successful Memory Care team.
  • Motivate, empower, and educate your caregivers and give them professional growth opportunities.
  • Recognize accomplishments and those going above and beyond. Lead by example and communicate expectations.
  • Create an environment of emotional safety, where everyone can be themselves. Give the residents dignity and support ensuring privacy and emergency response protocols are in place.
  • Hold annual performance appraisals for staff, document information for the residents, and maintain compliance with the State. Attend all meetings that involve a memory care resident.
  • Through regular surveys, gauge satisfaction of everyone from staff, meals, activities, and overall care provided. Conduct 1:1 visits and work toward enriching the lives of everyone involved.
  • Respond to injuries, with both residents and staff and set up a proactive safe routine as well as a fall prevention program for at-risk residents.
  • Promoting our LifeCycles-mind/body/spirit/ program and Best Friends Approach which leads to Creating Moment of Joy (by Jolene Brackey). Special encouragement for the exercise program to build strength.
  • Consult with DON regarding service plan creation, conduct medical assessments, and counsel families and residents to make informed choices regarding health, service plan changes, and alternative placement.
  • Address problems, build action plans, facilitate change, and hold the team accountable.
  • Create a smooth transition and positive move-in experience for future residents.
  • Assist in updating the CRM system for events, marketing reports, participating in public relations, advertising, and sales activities all in partnership with the Executive Director and Sales Consultant.
  • Strong English communication skills are essential for seamless interaction with residents and colleagues.

Assistant Director of Nursing Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess knowledge of labor laws, including but not limited to the Family and Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity, employee testing, and workers' compensation; and food service regulations
  • Proven track record of integrity
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills with experience in social media networking

  • Be on the floor engaging in daily contact with residents, families, prospects, employees, and other professionals, to establish and maintain constructive relationships

  • Display the ability, willingness, and judgment to decide, take action, and follow through; know when to defer to the Director

Education and Experience

  • Nursing Degree required
  • Experience as a staff nurse or floor nurse
  • Previous experience in senior housing, elder care or related industry preferred
  • At least 2 years experience in a supervisory role
