ESSENTIAL TASKS/DUTIES:

Responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments to include precision instrument manufacturing with the ability to fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments.

Be able to fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Responsible for Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects

Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment – servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily based on mechanical principles.

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Maintains equipment by completing instructed preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s and company instructions.

Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs in job turnovers.

Inspect parts, surfaces or operations of engine shop equipment to identify wear beyond acceptable limits, material/manufacturing defects, corrosion or other potential sources of failure.

Select and use basic tools and equipment to assemble, adjust, calibrate, repair or test.

Knowledge on how to use measurement instruments, machining tools, equipment, etc.

Machining of aircraft components to specified dimensions.

Fabrication or modification of special tools.

Inspect work once completed to verify final dimensions and overall quality.

Performs tasks while using proper safety techniques and precautions

Keep a clean and organized work area.

Requirements:

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must be able to read and write English.

Good planning, organization, and problem-solving skills mechanical in nature.

Must be able to operate lathes, mills, and grinders, etc.

Must be able to read precision instruments.

Ability to read and understand safety rules, procedure manuals, drawings and operating instructions.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.

Ability to perform mathematics related to machining tasks.
