Position Summary:

The Trailer Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining equipment at the transfer station and material recovery facilities safely and professionally.

Your Role:

  • Perform annuals, air brakes, lights, welding, etc.
  • Maintain and repair various types of trailers and hydraulic systems.
  • Work all assigned shifts from scheduled start time to scheduled end time.
  • Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
  • Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.

Your Skills:

  • Ability to use a variety of vehicle maintenance tools such as hand tools, electric tools, pneumatic tools, jacking equipment, safety stands, electronic testing equipment.
  • Ability to receive, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to read and understand parts and services manuals.
  • Ability to prepare legible and understandable work orders and schedule completion sheets.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of experience in a transportation environment
  • Driver's license
  • Driver's license with a CDL B is preferred (or willing to get their CDL training)
  • ASE certification
  • Road calls
  • Air brakes certification
  • Demonstrated mechanical skills.
  • Must supply own tools.
