HEAVY CONSTRUCTION - LABORER

-This is a direct permanent hire opportunity-

 Making A Difference Staffing is recruiting for a Heavy / Civil Construction General Contractor based in Cincinnati, OH, specializing in site work, earthwork, and underground utilities for both public and private clients. The geographical coverage area is generally within a 2-hour radius of Cincinnati / Tri-State area.  Our client is seeking a full-time, responsible, and hardworking construction laborer to join our growing team.
In this position one will be responsible for assisting crew members, operating heavy machinery, and following all site health and safety regulations, while driving projects to completion on schedule and on budget. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Report to Crew Foreman and work with fellow crew members at various construction project sites
• Operate a variety of equipment and hand / power tools, including drills, saws, loaders, and others as directed by management
• Prepare, set up and take down materials, equipment and supplies as required.  Picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use and securing the job site daily
• Load and unload construction supplies and materials both manually and with the use of equipment
• Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling, placing, cleaning, and storing materials, tools, and equipment properly.  Removing and properly disposing of debris and waste
• Digging, compacting, backfilling soils and aggregates
• Various other duties as required and/or directed

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Punctual attendance
• Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report concerns immediately to management
• Report incidents immediately to safety director, foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company • Willingness to communicate effectively
• Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation to and from job site(s)
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, reach, grasp and lift up to 50 lbs – regularly
• Ability to work outside, in all weather conditions, and terrain 
• Ability to pass pre-employment, annual, and potential random drug tests

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • One or more years of construction experience / apprenticeship (preferred)
  • Ability to travel out of town (typically within 2-hour radius)
  • May be asked to work OT, evenings, weekends, and holidays (OT likely, others not as likely)
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule / location(s) 
• High School diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• OSHA 10 / COATS (preferred)
• Ability to read construction plans (preferred) 
• Ability to work as a team and/or independently
• Ability to take direction, understand and communicate issues effectively and timely 
• Ability to provide support and think independently 
• Commercial driver’s license (preferred but not required)

COMPENSATION
• Hourly Pay range $18 - $25 / hr
• Prevailing Wages may range from $26 - $34 / hr
• Bonus eligibility

• Per diem with out-of-town work
