This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our broadcasting equipment and systems. Be a go-to expert for technical guidance within the team, clients, and stakeholders. You will expected to work in an engineering role for event productions and pre-planning for event productions. Employee’s work projects will be assigned by the Production Operations Engineer Supervisor, however, under most circumstances, the employee should be able to work independently once assigned a project or location. This position requires travel to several remote events each year, that can entail being gone for up to a week at a time.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• On site support for live event staging and broadcasting

• Troubleshooting any technical issues with any AV equipment used at the event or location before, during, or after production.

• Work with director to achieve the framing, timing, and angles for each field camera per field report productions.

• Must be willing to learn, grow and keep up to date with the ever-changing broadcast technology

• Be on-site during pre-determined events to facilitate set-up or AV changes.

• Become an in-house specialist on all broadcast audio and video equipment used by the Broadcast Department, as well as possess extensive knowledge of Dante audio systems.

• Participate in pre-production meetings

• Collaboration, installation, and integration of IT centric workflows and technologies to support real time broadcast and production.

• Supporting live events and the concepts of live video production techniques is required.

• Perform engineering and operational duties, which will be primarily, but not necessarily limited to: News Control Room and Studio equipment, camera setup, and video quality for video productions.

  • Assist with other studios, control room, and events as needed or assigned.


Requirements:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate, plus additional technical training or equivalent experience in the electronic field
  • Seven years minimum experience at a news production facility, experience with operation and maintenance of professional broadcast news production equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • An understanding of how to troubleshoot news production systems is required.
  • Must be able to understand operation manuals to setup and maintain news production systems.
  • Requires an operating knowledge of test equipment including but not limited to signal generators, waveform monitors, and IP based equipment.

EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:

  • Signal generators, Waveform monitors, IP based equipment, Servers, Fiber Equipment, and any other technology required to achieve the goals.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to lift at least 70lbs. Be able to work long hours as needed.

TYPICAL MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Be able to handle last-minute changes, high expectations, and next-to-impossible task requested to be done quickly.

  • Must work well with others, as a team and according to Romans 16:17, must not cause dissension, difficulties and divisions
  • Must maintain a good attendance record
  • Membership and attendance at EMIC are preferred
