Position: Employment Case Manager

Reports to: Workforce Development Manager
Supervises: N/A

Summary of Position:

He/she works in tandem with various social service agencies, employment entities, and other case managers to provide needed employment services for residents to overcome barriers to housing caused by employment or lack thereof.

Essential Responsibilities:

Some of the essential responsibilities of the Employment Case Manager include, but are not limited to:

  1. Assesses all residents who are unemployed or underemployed for employment readiness.
  2. Collects information pertaining to education history, job history to provide insight into basic skills, state of mental and physical health if it appears that it would impact on demonstration of basic skills during the assessment, current working status, and past work history.
  3. Develops a person-centered Employment Service Plan for each resident.
  4. Enters employment data into HMIS and maintains accurate and timely input.
  5. Develops and maintains statistics on job placement.
  6. Provides information and assistance to residents by working one on one with residents with job leads, completing application forms, resume writing, interviewing skills, and follow-up.
  7. May accompany residents to job fairs and job interviews where appropriate.
  8. Meets with interdisciplinary team members to discuss and offer input on residents’ individual service plans. Participates in external and internal team meetings.
  9. Coordinates and trains volunteer job coaches as needed.
  10. Transports and/or coordinates transportation of residents as needed in agency vehicles, including the agency's 15-passenger van or personal vehicle to job interviews, job fairs, etc., as needed.
  11. Works flexible hours including evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the program and residents.
  12. Models a caring, concerned and respectful attitude toward residents, maintain adherence to resident guidelines and uphold shelter procedures. Is familiar with and complies with policies and procedures of New Hope Housing, Inc.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

This position requires the following:

  1. High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Minimum two years experience in implementing employment and training programs.
  3. Ability to engage and interact well with diversified groups of individuals.
  4. Microsoft Office skills.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  6. Verbal Spanish skills preferred.
  7. Experience working with volunteers, and experience working with at-risk families and/or individuals.
  8. The ability to successfully pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record to be approved by our insurance carrier.
  9. Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgments.
  10. Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed.
