Job Description

The HACS is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player, to serve as a Housing Choice Voucher Recertifications Supervisor. The HACS hires quality employees and encourages excellence, to ensure the HACS will achieve and maintain high performance standards.

General Duties:

  • Responsible for the activities and results of the recertification specialists.
  • Ensures that department and Agency objectives are met through the coordinated efforts of department personnel. Ensures that work is prioritized and appropriately assigned.
  • Sets clear expectations and goals, provides timely feedback on a regular basis, and completes coaching sessions on a timely basis.
  • Provides appropriate training for staff members and assures that staff has appropriate tools and resources to achieve their objectives. Responsible for ensuring that employees are trained in and follow appropriate safe work practices at all times.
  • Manages communication channels between staff and other departments within the agency.
  • Generates accurate and timely flash reports, and other reports, on a daily basis.
  • Courteously and promptly responds to questions from both internal and external customers
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of standard procedures for the recertification process. Conducts monthly quality control and UIV audits of recertification files.
  • Monitors the quality of staff/tenant interactions and ensures a high level of customer service consistent with HACS goals and expectations.
  • Promptly and courteously attends to all resident complaints and follows through to ensure that matter has been resolved.
  • Conducts informal hearings in accordance with the HACS Grievance Procedure and promptly completes complaint dispositions. Participates in fraud investigations and formal hearings.
  • Ensures that staff members represent HACS in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Determines initial and continued eligibility for potential housing program participants.
  • Verifies information received from applicants such as income, assets, and allowances, to include public assistance to determine continued eligibility for housing assistance or to make interim adjustments due to changes in financial circumstances of participants.
  • Inspects units for housing quality standards (HQS) as needed.
  • Provides ongoing case management and referral services as needed to applicants and participants. (This would include referral to public assistance and community services.)
  • Review request for tenancy approval, owner/family lease and prepare appropriate papers for inspection.
  • Monitor process move-in(s), port-in(s), interim changes and submit to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as required.
  • Monitors wait list for Housing Choice Voucher Program.

Starting pay is up to $53,000 a year

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Public Housing Rent Calculation Specialist certification preferred.
  • Experience working with recertification’s is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of HUD regulations and A & O policies required.
