The role of a Financial Analyst involves engaging in forensic accounting and business valuation projects under the guidance of a Managing Director (MD) and may also receive direction from a Manager or Senior Financial Analyst. The position is task-oriented, focusing on a variety of responsibilities including:

  • Examination of corporate financial statements and tax returns;
  • Executive compensation analysis and research;
  • Conducting industry-specific and company-specific research;
  • Overseeing the discovery process and managing information for various cases;
  • Reviewing income as reported on federal individual tax returns;
  • Scrutinizing bank account transactions, income, and expenses;
  • Evaluating public companies through the examination of 10Ks, proxy statements, and other regulatory filings;
  • Participating in meetings and interviews alongside Managing Directors, lawyers, and clients.

This role also entails the delegation and oversight of tasks to Research Analysts and Financial Assistants as necessary. Effective communication with the MD, Manager, and/or Senior Financial Analyst is crucial, especially regarding inquiries, progress updates, and challenges encountered during assignments. The Financial Analyst is expected to perform tasks with attention to detail and within set timelines. Although not initially required to have in-depth knowledge in business valuation and forensic accounting, the analyst is expected to build this expertise through ongoing assignments and professional development opportunities provided by the firm.

Candidates should possess or be in the process of developing strong analytical, research, and case management skills. They may also be encouraged to undertake professional training relevant to their field and assist in the training of new staff. Proficiency in written and verbal communication is essential.
