Position Overview:

As a Mohs Technician at Skin and Aesthetic Centers, you will play a vital role in supporting our medical staff and ensuring the smooth operation of our clinical environment. You will be responsible for performing a variety of routine clinical tasks, assisting with medical and cosmetic procedures, and providing excellent patient care. Your attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities will contribute to the high standards of our practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Support: Perform routine clinical tasks to assist medical staff efficiently.
  • Timely Execution: Handle all duties in a timely and organized manner.
  • Supply Management: Order and manage inventory of medical supplies.
  • Patient Interaction: Obtain and update patient history and chief complaint, greet incoming patients, and escort them to exam rooms.
  • Procedure Assistance: Check for outstanding biopsies, bloodwork, and assist providers with medical and cosmetic procedures.
  • Patient Education: Provide and reinforce patient education following procedures and office visits.
  • Procedure Setup: Set up for select procedures, including biopsies and surgical procedures.
  • Clinical Procedures: Perform dressing changes, suture removal (following competency demonstration and provider approval), and take patient measurements utilizing landmarks.
  • Pathology Preparation: Complete pathology requisition forms with accurate patient information and prepare human tissue sections for microscopic examination under surgeon supervision.
  • Specimen Management: Maintain a daily log of biopsies and cultures, accurately account for specimens, and manage lab bags.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Clean, sterilize, and organize instruments and patient rooms.
  • Waste Management: Dispose of garbage and medical waste material properly.
  • OSHA Compliance: Review and follow posted OSHA instructions/requirements including hazardous waste, needle stick injuries, and emergency evacuations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in healthcare administration or related fields is required. Dermatology experience is preferred but not mandatory. Training for medical and surgical procedures will be provided.
  • Certification: Medical Assistant Certification required (documentation needed).
  • Skills: Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. Ability to work well with providers and anticipate their needs.
  • Customer Service: Prior customer service experience preferred.
  • Medical Knowledge: Familiarity with medical billing procedures is advantageous.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
