PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION

The primary purpose of your job position is to assist in the transferring of residents to and from appointments in various areas of the community in a safe manner.


DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY

As the Transport Rider, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Transport Drive to determine the transports scheduled for the day and plan the transport of residents to and from their destination using the transport van or other Sunset Senior Living vehicle.
  • Responsible for transferring residents from their rooms to and from the transportation van, to appointment and back
  • Assist on the nursing units as a Service Attendant between transport runs throughout the day. Ex-pass ice water, make beds, assist in dining rooms for meals
  • Keep a record of all trips made on a daily basis.
  • Pick up and deliver medical information regarding the resident at physicians’ offices, hospital, and other places of business as needed.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the transport van, i.e., keeping the interior/exterior clean, getting fuel, etc.
  • Report any problems with the operation of the vehicle to the maintenance department.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all department personnel within the facility, as well as employees at other health care agencies in the community.
  • Deliver and pickup paperwork as assigned for inter-department delivery at the end of your shift.
Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma.

EXPERIENCE

  • On-the-job training provided.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents, staff, and visitors based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend, move, and drive a vehicle intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel and residents.
  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
