Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

Excel Orthopaedic Specialists is looking for a detail-oriented Medical Records Administrative Assistant to work Monday-Fridays from 11am-5pm, for 30 hours per week. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the quality, integrity and protection of patient health information
  • Act as a contact person for patients and outside entities sending or requesting documents
  • Process requests for medical records that come in by mail, fax, or patient portal following protocols
  • Mail and track certified letters and packages
  • Perform and prioritize multiple daily tasks including sorting and distributing mail, record requests, scanning documents into the EMR, mailings, data entry and projects
  • Manage and fax documents as needed for attorney requests, patient appointments, procedures, and insurance auth
  • Prepare & Distribute surgeries for billing on a daily basis along with following up on any outstanding surgeries due.
  • Handle or assist with other projects including: Data entry into the EMR including bone density, merge duplicate patient accounts
  • Cross cover Switchboard Operator to assist with answering phones as needed
  • Demonstrate professional communication and problem solving with providers and leadership, participate in process improvement and educate teams on updated guidelines and/or process.
  • Complete other tasks as directed by management.
  • Attend staff meetings and continuing education


Requirements:
  • High school diploma required, Associate’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a healthcare setting
  • Must be highly detail orientated and Demonstrated ability to handle high volume of documents and calls in fast paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including EMR and MS Office
