Job Description-:

Candidate with Serial port data networking exp. will also work.

o Solid understanding of serial port / RS-232 configuration management (many Optical devices are serially connected to PC's and we have developed a sophisticated solution to connect / manage these devices)

A network engineer might use serial ports for several tasks, primarily related to the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of networking equipment. Here's how serial ports are typically used:

• Initial Device Configuration: Serial ports are often used for the initial setup of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware. This is particularly useful when a device has not yet been assigned an IP address, and network-based access (like SSH or Telnet) is not possible.
• Out-of-Band Management: In cases where the primary network is down, serial ports provide an out-of-band management method, allowing the engineer to access and manage network devices without relying on the main network connection.
• Console Access: Serial ports are commonly used to connect a computer to the console port of a network device. This allows the engineer to access the command-line interface (CLI) directly, where they can execute commands to configure or troubleshoot the device.
• Firmware Updates and Recovery: When updating firmware or recovering a device from a failure, serial ports can be used to upload new firmware or run recovery procedures that require direct device access.
• Debugging and Diagnostics: Serial ports can be used to monitor diagnostic messages and logs that are output by the device during startup or operation, helping to identify and resolve issues.
• Connecting to Terminal Servers: In larger networks, serial ports can be connected to terminal servers, allowing multiple network devices to be managed remotely through a single access point.
• Serial connections are often made using RS-232 cables, and network engineers typically use terminal emulation software (like PuTTY or Tera Term) on their computers to interact with network devices through the serial port.

This leadership role will own this critical IT Business role, giving you a significant influence on the company's direction.   directly engaged hands-on where necessary. Further, this position will involve a lot of business. The business team is, many times, the source of ideas.
  It is expected you will also work closely with the software development and infrastructure teams. This role will be a leader, innovator, mentor, and teacher.   improving existing ones.
  

What you'll be doing -
Lead a team of engineers and build an environment of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and continuous growth within the team.
Act as a key liaison, engaging regularly and directly with the CEO, COO, CTO, and CIO. Communicate effectively with these senior executives to align engineering initiatives with organizational goals, provide updates on project progress, and address any strategic concerns or opportunities.
Serve as primary point of contact for customers, actively participating in discussions to introduce and explain new concepts, technologies, and solutions. Work closely with clients to gain a deep understanding of their needs, challenges, and objectives, ensuring that engineering solutions are tailored to meet their requirements and deliver exceptional value.
Collaborate with the Application Development team, driving innovation, creating and implementing new concepts and enhancements to existing solutions. Foster an environment encouraging innovative thinking and ensuring alignment between engineering and application development goals.
Work with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize application update requirements.
Assess business needs and coordinate with relevant teams to align engineering efforts with
strategic objectives and ensure timely delivery of high-impact updates.
Engage in communicating with clients and all key stakeholders verbally and in writing.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation related to engineering projects and application updates. Ensure all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and accessible to the business team. Facilitate effective communication with customers by providing clear and relevant information where applicable, enhancing the overall customer experience.
Partner with 3rd party companies
o Engage with Employee Medical Record (EMR) companies for API integration
o Work closely with optical equipment manufacturers and their software integration API's
Partner with Customer Facing Support Teams
o Identify / track issues to target for application improvements

Qualifications-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven experience of over 10 years in management, leading and managing teams across various engineering and technical functions, and a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives, fostering team development, and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
Proven skills in managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and consultants, implementing process improvements, and navigating organizational dynamics to achieve business objectives.
Must have a solid understanding of serial port and RS-232 configuration management, demonstrating proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing serial communication systems. (Adept at managing serial port settings, diagnosing connectivity issues, and ensuring seamless integration with various hardware and software systems.
Strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with serial communication tools, and the ability to clearly document and communicate technical details.
o Experience with managing and implementing technical projects
o Solid working knowledge of Cloud-based solutions
Virtual Machines, Networks, Storage, Security etc.
o Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 10 and 11 operating systems
o Solid working knowledge of PC hardware and networking
o Azure or AWS Foundations Certification a plus
