Job DescriptionJob Description

We are currently seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to fill the dual role of Administrative Associate and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Caring Seasons. This unique position offers the opportunity to provide both administrative support and direct patient care within our hospice organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine desire to assist patients in their time of need.

Responsibilities include:

Certified Nursing Assistant:

The Certified Nursing Assistant is specially trained to give personal care and help the patient achieve a good quality of life through encouragement, social contact, companionship, and reassurance, under the guidance and supervision of the registered nurse.

The Certified Nursing Assistant also maintains patient confidentiality and promotes patient rights as supported by agency, state, and federal directives. Identifies cultural diversity and lifestyle choices and non-judgmentally accommodates for such differences.

The Certified Nursing Assistant is committed to the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospice concept while consistently demonstrating Caring Seasons values and compliance with the organization’s service excellence standards.

Administrative Associate:

Handling Incoming Calls and Communications: Efficiently manage incoming phone calls, ensuring prompt and courteous responses to patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Relay messages accurately and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.

Managing Filing System and Documents: Maintain organized and up-to-date patient records, both physical and electronic. File documents, reports, and correspondence appropriately for easy retrieval.

Greeting Clients and Visitors: Create a welcoming and professional environment by greeting patients, visitors, and vendors. Assist with check-in procedures and provide necessary information.

Organizing and Maintaining Office Common Areas: Keep common areas (waiting rooms, reception, etc.) tidy and presentable. Restock supplies, arrange reading materials, and ensure a comfortable atmosphere for patients.

Performing General Office Assistant Duties and Errands: Collaborate with coworkers to complete administrative tasks efficiently. Run errands as needed (e.g., picking up supplies, delivering documents).

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent,
  • Current South Carolina Nurse’s Aide certification
  • CPR certification.
  • Two or more years of experience in hospice, hospital, skilled and assisted living facility, or home health providing direct patient care required.
  • CHPNA preferred.
  • Ability to successfully interact with a diverse patient population, families, physicians, Caring Seasons staff, and the community at-large along with excellent customer service and documentation skills required.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook and database knowledge.

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires minimal visual concentration for patient charting/documentation.
  • Position carries a risk of exposure to infectious diseases requiring standard safety precautions.
  • The Certified Nursing Assistant requires extensive physical mobility and strength.
  • This includes the ability to ambulate or lift a patient with or without the assistance of devices of more than 75 lbs. utilizing proper lifting techniques.

Work Environment:

  • A full-time position works a 30–40-hour work week, rotating days, evenings, or weekends, with occasional requests to work additional days/hours/holidays as needed.
  • This position encounters stressful situations with patients and their families regarding end-of-life care.
