PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

Safely set up and operate the machine to acquire quality product at the desired target speed of each run.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Set up and operate the machines in a consistent manner, maintain the procedures with regard to the operation
  • Loads and unloads pallets of paperboard into the jogger aerator checking sheets for all defects
  • Operates control panel from pedestal base staying clear of jogger aerator while in motion, safely removes and inserts pallets from the jogger aerator
  • Jogs, aerates, aligns, and inverts pallet-sized loads
  • Inverts jogger aerator used to separate sheets, blows out entrapped powder, dust, and debris from loads
  • Adjust vibrations and aerating speeds as necessary
  • Produces evenly stacked piles of paperboard sheets on pallets to provide optimal performance of printing and cutting presses
  • Bands pallets of waste material from the offset printers
  • Stages stock loads in the printing department for the next scheduled jobs
  • Report any suspected problems or safety issues to supervisor
  • Must be trained with a certification to operate an electric pallet jack
  • Follow all instructions issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set up and operation
  • Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and assists in repair of machine malfunctions; performs routine cleaning and maintenance.
  • Performs lock out tag out during maintenance and never enters the pit unless machine has been locked out
  • In accordance with our 5S system, maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans
  • Effectively utilize any machine downtime (not including approved breaks) by performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisor
  • Occasionally will be asked to perform a different job, or be temporarily placed in a different department based on production needs

AUTHORITY: Must have the ability to lead others that has been placed with them to execute the demands of the operation efficiently and to respond to oral instructions from the supervisor and other written instructions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Must have mechanical ability and skills.
