• Job Summary:

As a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System, employed by Sanford Federal, Inc., you will play a crucial role in ensuring a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. You will oversee a team of housekeeping staff, manage daily operations, and ensure adherence to established cleanliness standards. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:

•Supervise and lead a team of housekeeping staff, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.

•Develop and maintain cleaning schedules, ensuring all assigned areas are cleaned and maintained according to established standards.

•Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control measures are followed.

•Monitor and maintain adequate inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and linens.

•Coordinate with other departments and healthcare staff to address housekeeping needs and ensure efficient service delivery.

•Perform quality control checks to ensure work is performed to the highest standards.

•Assist in hiring, onboarding, and evaluating housekeeping staff.

•Handle and resolve any customer service issues or complaints in a professional and timely manner.

•Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines, including OSHA and VA policies.

•Maintain accurate records, including attendance, performance, and inventory logs.

•Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate expectations, provide updates, and foster a positive working environment.

Qualifications:

•High school diploma or equivalent.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

•Previous experience in housekeeping or custodial services, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

•Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.

•Excellent organizational and time management skills.

•Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and other health care professionals.

•Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

•Knowledge of infection control and safety practices in a healthcare setting.

•Familiarity with OSHA regulations and VA housekeeping guidelines is preferred.

•Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

•Must be detail-oriented and have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality service.

•Must possess a clean criminal record. A background check will be conducted as part of the selection process to ensure the safety and security of the patients and staff.
