Hillcroft is looking for an energetic and inventive person to lead our Pre-Employment Transition team.  This position is responsible for supervising the Hillcroft Pre-Employment Transition team and for developing and providing employment transition services in area high schools.  Will work closely with area schools and funding sources to provide quality engaging Pre-Employment Transition services. 


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with schools, teams, families, and individuals served.
  • Job exploration counseling
  • Develop, implement and provide work-based learning experiences, which may include in-school or after school opportunities, or experience outside the traditional school setting (including internships), that is provided in an integrated environment to the maximum extent possible
  • Counseling on opportunities for enrollment in comprehensive transition or post-secondary educational programs at institutions of higher education
  • Workplace readiness training to develop social skills and independent living.
  • Instruction in self-advocacy, which may include peer mentoring.
  • Participate in the development of referrals from area schools.
  • Meet with students, teachers, and administrative staff on a regular basis. 
  • Participates in client meetings and requests additional meetings as needed.
  • Must be willing to work weekends, evenings or overtime hours as needed.
  • Mentor other staff on job responsibilities when appropriate.
  • Attend meetings and conferences pertinent to the position.


Qualifications

  1. Education, training & experience:  High School Diploma or its equivalent required.  Bachelor’s or associate degree in education, Special Education, Human Services, or related field preferred.
  2. Critical skills/expertise:
    1. Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
    2. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general information.
    3. Have computer skills for data entry, word processing and communication avenue.
