Job Title: Staff Pharmacist (Compounding, Veterinary Medicine, Retail)

Job Summary: NuCara is currently seeking a Full-Time (32 to 40 hours per week) Staff Pharmacist primarily involved with practicing at our Coralville compounding and veterinary-medicine pharmacies. The pharmacist's main objectives include ensuring effective and compliant non-sterile and sterile compounding for both human and veterinary patients, overseeing pharmacy practices at key locations including NuCara Compounding Pharmacy and our ecommerce pharmacy, VetRxDirect, in Coralville, IA. This position emphasizes lab management of compounding areas, delivering patient-centered clinical services, reviewing companion animal treatments, and ensuring the safety and effectiveness of medication therapies. This position is ideal for pharmacists seeking a challenging practice setting that caters to the specialized needs of individual patients and requires a deep understanding of rules and regulations related to USP Chapters , , and .

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and evaluate physician orders to prepare, calculate, and dispense appropriate medication dosage forms for compounding, retail, and veterinary medicine following the Practicing State's Pharmacy Practice Act, Federal Drug Laws, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Organize daily operational duties and assist in supervising pharmacy technicians, support personnel, and student interns involved in retail and compounding settings.
  • Utilize all available technologies in the provision of pharmaceutical care (e.g., computer systems and databases, compounding devices and equipment).
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, professional standards of practice, and company policies and procedures in providing pharmaceutical care.

Candidates should possess strong organizational skills, high motivation, the ability to work collaboratively in a team, and must effectively utilize available resources to deliver appropriate patient care.


Position Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Current Iowa Pharmacy license by starting date.
  • 2 years of experience in sterile and/or non-sterile compounding preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience managing/working with technicians preferred.

Full-time positions offer competitive wages and a benefits package, including health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, short-term disability, 401(k) match, holiday pay, and PTO. Our pharmacies observe closure on Sundays and all major holidays. Staffing follows regular business hours, Monday through Friday, with the addition of a monthly half-day Saturday shift.
