Position Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Psychiatric Technician - Residential
Department: Nursing
Reports To: Director of Nursing Services and Program Director
POSITION SUMMARYFull time LVN to join team providing care to patients on a residential Behavioral Health unit. Excellent customer service skills and collaboration with team providers and coworkers are a must. The team consists of psychiatric providers, clinical supervisors, mental health therapists, case managers, and substance abuse counselors. Duties include supporting patient self-administration at designated medication calls, providing medication education, support, updating medication logs, providing prescribed injections, and insuring medication adherence. Candidate must be highly organized, timely and have the ability to multi-task. Chemical Dependency/Dual Diagnosis experience preferred. Bilingual preferred but not required. - Plans and delivers nursing assessments and interventions, related to medical and psychiatric diagnoses of the patient.
- Administers Medications per the treating provider orders and assesses effectiveness, and monitors for side effects.
- Completes pre-admission triage and determines medical/nursing appropriateness of admission.
- Monitors patient’s medication intake consistent with medication policies, practices and standards.
- Communicates significant changes in patient’s condition in a timely manner.
- Documents in patient’s chart nursing goals, interventions and clinical outcomes.
- Functions as an active member of the treatment care planning team.
- Responds to medical emergency situations.
- Competently uses equipment necessary for the delivery of patient care including but not limited to: glucometer, AED, bag/mask, oxygen.
- Provide Blood Draws (lab draws) as per treating provider orders (additional certification for Blood Draws required for this duty, but not required for the position).
- Attends trainings as required for the position.
- Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned by the Director of Nursing or the Program Director.
Graduate of an accredited LVN or LPT school or college and licensed to practice in California. Two (2) years recent acute care experience preferred; a Behavioral/Chemical Dependency Setting- required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
