Job DescriptionJob Description
  • Adjunct Instructors are responsible for delivery of all course materials and instruction, either on ground or online, for academic programs offered by the institution to prepare the student for the workplace. This position requires knowledge of and adherence to all Southern Careers Institute’s educational policies and procedures.
  • · Demonstrate and apply a thorough and accurate knowledge of the teaching field and discipline;
  • · Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning;
  • · Practices excellence in teaching and instruction;
  • · Modify instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs;
  • · Prepare lesson plans (ground classes) and teach courses as prescribed by the approved institutional curriculum;
  • · Encourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignments;
  • · Administer tests and maintain a record of student grades;
  • · Administer lab assignments and homework;
  • · Conduct classes in a professional and educational manner;

  • :
  • · Adjunct Instructors are paid a set fee per course which is based upon the instructor’s credentials, class duration, and the student count on day four (4) of the class (Refer to the Adjunct Instructor Pay Scale). Compensation is payable in periodic installments in accordance with the Southern Careers Institute’s normal payroll practices, less applicable tax and other withholdings.
  • · The assignment of a course will depend on sufficient enrollment, which will not be verified until registration is completed. Southern Careers Institute may cancel a course at any time for business reasons. If a course is canceled prior to its start, there will be no obligation on behalf of Southern Careers Institute to pay the instructor for the course. If the course is canceled after its start, for reasons other than instructor performance, a reasonable prorated payment will be determined by Southern Careers Institute.
  • · Adjunct Instructors agree to accept a course assignment with the understanding that the class must be prepared and ready for students prior to the course start date, and that all eligible assignments are graded with final grades submitted to Southern Careers Institute no later than two (2) days after the course end.
  • · Adjunct Instructors may teach up to two (2) courses concurrently. Courses are assigned based on student enrollment, instructor course load and continued compliance with Southern Careers Institute requirements and policies. All Southern Careers Institute courses are developed by our Curriculum Developers, and Instructors are required to follow the course outline as prescribed.
  • · Adjunct Instructors can be replaced if they do not adhere to the policies and procedures set forth in the course curriculum as well as the Instructor handbook. It is the Instructor’ responsibility to review the instructor handbook as well as any instructor training materials, since they are often revised. Any intellectual property, such as lectures, discussion questions, assignments, or other materials provided by Southern Careers Institute in the classroom are the sole and exclusive property of Southern Careers Institute. Southern Careers Institute shall retain all right, title, interest, copyright, trademark, and service mark of materials placed in the classroom by Southern Careers Institute.
