The Development Team Lead position has great flexibility and the opportunity to work on a global scale. The primary duties of this role include:

  • Estimating technical effort required for work assigned to the team.
  • Assigning work units to individual team members.
  • Overseeing the team’s execution against project plans and delivery commitments.
  • Managing the day-to-day work assigned to the development team and ensuring team members continually work to hone their skills and strive towards their career goals.
  • Mentoring direct reports and helping them achieve their desired career goals and objectives.
  • Performing scheduled performance reviews and goal setting for direct reports.
  • Leading daily stand-up meetings to understand progress status and potential roadblocks.
  • Performing technical root cause analysis and outlining corrective action for complex problems/defects.
  • Independently determining both a general approach and specific solutions to various technical problems.
  • Continuously improving software delivery processes and practices for Flooid products.
  • Applying a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus to the right priorities for developing Flooid solutions.
  • Working collaboratively and professionally with other Flooid associates in cross-functional teams to achieve department and business goals.

Skills and Experience

A successful Development Team Lead at Flooid makes decisions using strategic perspective and works decisively with independence and integrity. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle (Agile, SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of computer science fundamentals in object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis.
  • Experience in Java, Angular, and Open Source frameworks.
  • Experience in Cloud architectures, GCP preferred.
  • Experience supporting commercial applications/systems.
  • Experience in improving teams’ ways of working to eliminate waste and improve flow.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills – must demonstrate a methodical approach to troubleshooting problems with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Heightened technical awareness and the ability to understand the reasoning and implications of technical decisions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills – must be able to communicate and interact effectively with customers and coworkers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set priorities, handle multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and collaborators from across the business.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, with the confidence to ask questions and challenge opinions when necessary.
  • Ability to have difficult conversations.
  • Driven attitude with a superior ability to execute and sustain a high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to quickly develop a working knowledge of Flooid products and services.
