Job Description:

The Estate Planning Attorney will be responsible for managing a wide array of estate planning services, ensuring high-quality legal advice and support is provided to our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of estate planning, probate processes, and tax planning to effectively guide clients through their estate planning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation and Advisory:
  • Conduct initial consultations to understand clients’ estate planning needs and objectives.
  • Advise on various estate planning instruments including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Document Preparation:
  • Draft, review, and finalize estate planning documents ensuring compliance with current laws and accurate reflection of client’s wishes.
  • Probate and Trust Administration:
  • Assist in the probate process and trust administration, ensuring compliance and efficient asset distribution.
  • Estate and Tax Planning:
  • Develop strategies to minimize estate taxes and facilitate efficient asset transfers.
  • Provide guidance on charitable giving and business succession planning.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Maintain strong relationships through regular communication, updating clients on changes in their plans or relevant laws.
  • Compliance and Research:
  • Stay updated with changes in estate planning laws and conduct thorough legal research to ensure accurate advice.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required; LLM in Taxation or similar is a plus.
  • 4-8 years of experience in a law firm’s Trusts & Estates group.
  • Active membership with the California Bar.
  • Strong skills in drafting complex wills and trusts.
  • Proficient in advanced estate planning techniques and documents.
  • In-depth knowledge of estate, gift, GST, and income tax rules applicable to trusts and estates.
