Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Adult Inpatient Specialist provides comprehensive care to adult patients with behavioral health issues in an inpatient setting. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The specialist is responsible for ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Care:

    • Provide direct care to adult patients with behavioral health needs.
    • Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans.
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
    • Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
  2. Safety and Environment:

    • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
    • Implement and follow safety protocols to prevent harm to patients and staff.
    • De-escalate volatile situations using approved techniques.
  3. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss patient care plans and progress.
    • Communicate effectively with patients’ families and caregivers.
  4. Documentation:

    • Accurately document patient information, care plans, and progress notes.
    • Ensure all records are maintained in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
  5. Education and Support:

    • Educate patients and their families about behavioral health conditions and treatment plans.
    • Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
    • Encourage patients to participate in therapeutic activities.
  6. Professional Development:

    • Stay current with developments in behavioral health through continuing education.
    • Participate in training programs and workshops as required.
Skills and Experience:Required:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in behavioral health.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health disorders and treatments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and handle crisis interventions.
Education and Certifications:Required:
  • Relevant certification or licensure in behavioral health or a related field.
Preferred:
  • Additional certifications related to behavioral health care.
