Supervisor for the Airframe Engineering team for new product and aircraft designs at Cirrus Aircraft

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have functional and technical responsibility for degreed engineers.

The Airframe Engineering Supervisor ensures the technical competency, consistency and standardization of the airframe design group through use of strong Creo/PDM CAD skills, composite design and manufacturing knowledge, GD&T, structural analysis, and airplane certification experience. The Airframe Engineering supervisor must also have a passionate vision for where the group needs to technically progress, and use their strong leadership, communication skills and industry, academic, and vendor partnerships to make that vision a reality.

The airframe engineering supervisor must be highly organized and decisive as they attend to the administrative and personnel requirements of the team, and workload distribution across team members to support projects.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experience in the following preferred:

  • Analysis and interpretation of requirements/technical specifications of aircraft structure, materials, processes, equipment, components and systems and ensuring their successful integration onto aircraft. Producing models, drawings, specification, plans, and reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and has a track record of leadership abilities.
  • A strong will to manage and measure the performance of the Airframe Engineering team by expanding the group’s functional and technical abilities and identifying gaps in group abilities.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum 4 year Degree and experience in engineering discipline with at least 5 years of experience in an airframe design engineering.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Strong working knowledge of aircraft structure, aircraft materials and composites.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft systems and aerodynamics.
  • Methods for problem solving and experimenting.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, guidance and decision making.

Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
  • Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
  • Ability to efficiently learn new skills and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project)
