ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Coordinate timely and efficient routing and dispatching of trucks

Evaluate route effectiveness and adjusts routes as needed

Record time of departure, destination, cargo, expected time of return and investigates overdue vehicles

Keep track on customer needs, drivers, locations and loads, and daily factors to balance cost and speed of response

Negotiate prices with third party vendors as necessary

Take client calls and communicates issues with drivers and Transportation Manager as appropriate

Assist Transportation Manager in making sure drivers follow all DOT regulations and hours of service rules

Assist Transportation Manager to ensure appropriate workforce level each day

Provide after hour support for truck emergencies and or customer support

Responsible for influencing positive employee morale and quality customer service

Promptly communicate any delays, issues, or concerns with completing the requested haul

Invoice all shipments

Assist in maintenance tracking to ensure that the fleet is in good working order

Provide and maintain proper driver and equipment records with terminals

Work cooperatively with all division to ensure transportation needs are met

Abide by all safety regulations to ensure safety of oneself, coworkers and customers

Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Valid driver’s license, with acceptable driving record

Ability to work extended hours and weekends when required

Excellent customer service skills and written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure

Strong PC knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Familiarity with DOT requirements

Strong organizational skills

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree

Previous dispatch experience
