Role:

Assists new and existing members with their financial needs, opens and closes various types of accounts, processes transactions, resolves account problems, and provides assistance and information regarding other products and services of the credit union. Travels as needed with or without notice to fill vacancies in Member Centers.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Reviews member documents and processes to ensure compliance with federal regulations, organizational policies, and procedures.

  • Assists members with opening and closing accounts, processes transactions, and addresses and resolves member problems, inquiries, or complaints. Refers problems to supervisor as needed, along with recommendations for resolution.

  • Advises members by phone or in person to provide information about products or services; initiates loan applications and closes loans. Responsible for providing a quality member service experience.

  • Identifies opportunities to cross-sell products or services to members.

  • Maintains accurate member account information in the system and prepares required reports for management.

  • Acts as liaison between members and appropriate departments.

  • Removes, counts, and records cash from ATM.

  • Functions as a Teller on an as-needed basis; assists employees in balancing daily transactions, orders cash, and balances teller drawer.

  • Has increased authorities including but not limited to check signing and cash drawer limits.

  • Support Member Center staff in absence of manager and seek assistance from leaders when appropriate.

  • Monitors Member Center operations to ensure that security procedures are followed, and appropriate steps are taken to correct unsatisfactory conditions; opens and closes the Member Center, vault, and safe deposit boxes.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

Experience: One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education: A high school education or GED is required.

Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication with contacts inside and outside the organization is essential. Fostering relationships with other entities (companies and individuals) is necessary and often requires the ability to influence and sell ideas or services to members or others. The role requires a significant level of emotional intelligence.

Other Skills: General office equipment such as calculators, computers, photocopiers, and scanners. Maintains confidentiality related to credit union operations and work-related information. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
