POSTION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing structures, foundations, and overhead wires for high-voltage transmission lines (greater than 46 kV). Your duties will include ensuring that all designs comply with relevant codes and standards set by authoritative bodies, covering both structural integrity and clearance requirements. Additionally, you will collaborate with customer representatives and Project Management Teams to ensure designs meet all specifications, requirements, and deadlines.

JOB FUNCTION:

  • Designs and interprets drawings for the following: transmission structures, transmission foundations, transmission hardware assemblies, underground pipe networks, grading, substation structures, foundations, overhead lines, lightning protection systems, and aluminum bus systems.
  • Reviews drawings for substation equipment, vendor-supplied equipment, and customer standards.
  • Ensures compliance with customer specifications and design codes.
  • Checks PLS-CADD models, transmission line foundations, transmission structure electrical arrangement drawings, and steel detail drawings.
  • Problem-solving issues related to design, construction, and compliance.
  • Creates and checks material list descriptions for transmission lines.
  • Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, customers, and their representatives.
  • Recognizes and recommends methods to improve every customer's experience.
  • Travels periodically to both customer offices for project meetings and to job sites for construction visits.
  • Performs quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
  • Interacts professionally with other employees and customers.
  • Works effectively as a team contributor on all assigned projects.
  • Demonstrates integrity and ethics in all client relationships and communications.
  • Communicates regularly with project teams regarding designs, concerns, studies, or tests
  • Participates in continued education and training
  • Occasional overnight travel to active job sites
  • Must have a clean driving record as use of company vehicles is a requirement of the position

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience designing transmission line systems.
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • PE is required
  • Strong background in PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, MFAD or LPile, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required; strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
