Glacier Health and Development Center offers outpatient counseling, coaching, and program development support to a diverse population, as well as psychological research for the improvement of mental health services nationally and abroad. Job Summary:

The office assistant / receptionist is responsible for assisting with scheduling of patient appointment, answering phone calls, faxing information, facilitating staff support, monitoring cancellations of clients, insurance verification, medical billing, creation of new patient charts, and maintenance of patient records. This position would be in assistance to the office manager. Maintenance of patient records can include, but is not limited to scanning and filing patient documents, ensuring complete and accurate information, and timely completion of all assigned tasks. Insurance handling can include, but is not limited to, validating insurance and payment authorization, inputting claims, and responding to telephone inquiries. Medical billing includes assurance that billing for all services provided is accurate, timely, and fully documented. The office assistant / receptionist should carry out their duties in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and established company policies and compliance programs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private medical billing.
  • Candidate should have some experience with insurance billing in the medical field and knowledge of medical billing terminology
  • Candidate should have excellent phone and customer relations skills
  • Candidate should have working knowledge of HIPAA and other medical insurance regulations and terminology for private payer, state and federal plans including coding, billing and reimbursement protocols

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Validating patient insurance and payment authorization
  • Scheduling patient appointments
  • Accurate and timely inputting of claims
  • Managing individual's work in process
  • Responding to telephone inquiries
  • Creation of new patient charts and maintenance of patient records
  • Managing incoming phone calls
  • Managing outgoing and incoming faxes
  • Provide staff support as needed
  • Provide customer service to patients, fellow employees, and referral sources
