Job Summary:

The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. This role will involve preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, and supporting the overall financial health of the company. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
    • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to management.
    • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • General Ledger:
    • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.
    • Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and classified.
    • Prepare and post journal entries as needed.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
    • Perform regular reconciliations of accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Compliance and Auditing:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Tax Preparation:
    • Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely filing.
    • Maintain accurate records of tax-related transactions and support tax planning initiatives.
  • Payroll Support:
    • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for improving accounting processes and systems.
    • Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments to support overall financial management.
    • Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or a related role.
    • Experience in the transport and logistics industry is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
    • Experience with tax preparation and compliance is an advantage.
