Summary

As a Toddler Teacher in our play-based learning center, you'll be instrumental in providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where toddlers can explore, learn, and develop essential skills through play and guided activities. Your role is pivotal in fostering their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth during this crucial stage of early childhood development.

Duties

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum activities that promote language development, cognitive skills, fine and gross motor skills, and social-emotional competence for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years.
  • Classroom Management: Create a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to exploration, creativity, and learning. Manage classroom routines, transitions, and behavior effectively while maintaining a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Individualized Instruction: Recognize and respond to the unique needs, interests, and developmental levels of each toddler in your care. Differentiate instruction and provide individualized support to help toddlers reach their full potential.
  • Parent Communication: Establish and maintain open, collaborative communication with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on their child's progress, milestones, and daily experiences. Foster strong partnerships with families to support each toddler's holistic development.
  • Observation and Assessment: Conduct ongoing observations and assessments of toddlers' development, documenting progress and milestones. Use assessment data to inform curriculum planning, identify areas for growth, and tailor learning experiences to meet individual needs.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure continuity of care and consistency in program implementation. Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and staff training sessions to enhance your teaching practice and contribute to a positive, supportive work environment.
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly classroom environment that meets health, safety, and licensing standards. Implement health and safety protocols, including hygiene practices, first aid procedures, and emergency preparedness measures.


Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with toddlers in a childcare setting, with knowledge of toddler development, behavior management techniques, and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with toddlers, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
  • Ability to meet state licensing requirements for childcare providers.
