Statement of Work Details
Prepares and maintains documentation of test results.
- Update and maintain unified records of all protocols; make them available to lab staff and other scientists.
- Develop protocols for lab equipment and new techniques.
- Maintain laboratory records, reports and files.
- Develop manage a laboratory information management and system.
Independently plans, implements, and organizes all activities related to laboratory function.
- Provide daily oversight and management of laboratory operations to ensure continuity of experiments and data analyses.
- Maintain lab records (including ordering, equipment records and data archiving).
- Procure laboratory supplies, reagents and equipment when needed; collect and organize billing paperwork.
- Manage and resolve lab administrative and technical problems.
- Develop standards, timelines, SOPs, and delegations of authority for use within the laboratory.
Coordinates the financial management and has accountability for monitoring the operating budget.
- Monitor, track and order all supplies and reagents for laboratories.
- Work with principal investigators to develop budget projections of future requirements.
- Maintain status of all laboratory inventory; coordinate and assist in the acquisition of all supplies and equipment from commercial vendors; serve as liaison to purchasing agent.
Assists with the development of laboratory policies and procedures.
- Make modifications and improvements in laboratory methods/procedures to meet specific needs or experimental situations.
- Determine problems or deficiencies in methodology or protocols; take appropriate corrective action.
- Develop protocols for laboratory equipment and new techniques.
Assists with hiring staff and adjust workload of staff to meet deadlines.
- Assist Principal Investigator in recruiting and onboarding new staff in the lab.
- Coordinate work and staff to ensure all need, expectations and timelines are met
- Work with staff to ensure smooth day-to day laboratory operations
Coordinates the training of new staff.
- Provide training to staff in the use of techniques, procedures and equipment needed to complete the objectives of the laboratory.
- Provide training to students and other personnel in the use of laboratory equipment and in the performance of specialized procedures, techniques, etc.
- Provide guidance and assistance to other members of the laboratory using basic techniques.
Perform laboratory research, record and analyze data.
- Generate, process and analyze datasets to be included in scientific reports.
- Perform laboratory procedures (i.e., gel electrophoresis, enzymatic assays, culturing of eukaryotic and bacterial cells, protein purification, light microscopy, etc.).
- Perform biological sample preparation techniques (fixation, embedding, sectioning, staining, dehydration, drying, coating, etc.).
- Conduct research experiments to support ongoing research projects.
Projects equipment needs.
- Purchase supplies using POTS, stock supplies; make solutions; dispose of chemical waste; etc.
- Inventory and procure new equipment and computer hardware/software programs and licenses.
- Coordinate laboratory purchase of inventory, storage and supplies usage.
- Coordinate the purchasing and proper use, maintenance and disposal of radioactive materials.
Provides technical expertise.
- Develop, import and implement new protocols.
- Serve as an on-site expert for active trial sample acquisitions.
- Provide program guidance to other scientific, academic, or clinical organizations and pharmaceutical companies in support of cooperative endeavors.
Develops and maintains appropriate control and quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure that lab members are using adequate personal protection (PPE).
- Request and label hazardous waste containers
- Maintain a safe operating environment in the lab.
- Ensure continual laboratory compliance with all Safety and Radiation egulations in accordance with proper chemical waste disposal.
- Ensure that all members of the laboratory are updated with regard to laboratory safety requirements.
