Position Summary:

Responsible for the set up and operation of state of the art radiologic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients. Responsible for performing all required routine and emergent procedures in diagnostic radiology. The incumbent is responsible for the physical needs of the patient undergoing the exam as well as radiation protection practices. The incumbent must be able to independently determine the quality of radiographs to insure the highest value of the radiological exam.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Participates in staff meetings, quality improvement meetings and continuing education to improve individual, departmental and organizational performance growth.
  2. Deals with conflict and directs concerns to the appropriate personal.
  3. On a daily basis, interacts and responds to patients, physicians and fellow hospital staff in a professional manner, remembering that patient care is our first concern.
  4. Accepting constructive criticism and handling issues that arise professionally and demonstrating concern for efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  5. Perform other appropriate clinical and administrative duties as assigned and/or demonstrate ability to set priorities and demonstrate self motivation in performance of job duties.
  6. Performs all work in accordance to the mission, vision and values that support the philosophy, goals and objectives of the Cleveland Area Hospital Health System.
  7. Serve as a clinical resource for physicians and other departments, building and maintaining positive relationships within the department and hospital.
  8. Must be patient focused. Customer service is your top priority.
  9. Keep supervisors apprised of problems, workflow and other relevant issues, making suggestions for changes in policies and procedures in a constructive manner, demonstrating competency in accessing, treating and caring for patients in an appropriate acceptable time frame ensuring accuracy and completeness in assigned tasks and duties.
  10. Comply with hospital policies for attendance and punctuality, being willing to adapt personal work schedule to department workflow.
  11. Manage patient results in all relevant systems, answering phone inquiries from providers and patients. Provide consultation and assistance to students and providers regarding test ordering, results and interpretations, carry out research for and with students and doctors regarding testing.
  12. Exhibits comfort levels when performing technical procedures on patients of all age groups which requires independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to apply and prescribed doses of ionizing radiation.
  13. Accurately report clinical information to support the assessment, treatment, education and continuity among healthcare providers.
  14. Provide accurate answers to questions from physicians, nurses and other professionals in a timely manner.
  15. Obtain, analyze, and utilize information to enhance and improve individual and organizational performance in patient care.
  16. Consistently practicing radiation safety, for self, team mates and patients while maximizing the use of equipment and resources in the Radiology Department.
  17. Accurately document in the computer work performed and promptly report critical results to the physician or nurse and document appropriately.
  18. Demonstrate proper use of equipment and perform daily QC/QA checks as FDA/State regulations.
  19. Treat every patient, visitor and physician as a special guest. Treat every guest and fellow employee with courtesy, concern, respect, and sensitivity.
  20. Utilize proper telephone etiquette, giving name and department; be pleasant and attentive, take accurate notes and aid with clarification of key information. Respond to requests promptly.

Position Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certificates/Registrations: Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible,
  • Must have a certificate of completion from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program,
  • High School diploma or GED,
  • Must have good communication, computer skills, team attitude and customer service skills. Must have good organizational and problem solving skills. Must possess a willingness to learn multiple modalities of the Diagnostic Radiology field.

Note: The Radiology team provides patient care 24/7. To provide the highest quality care to our patients, individuals may be required to work beyond normal scheduled shifts and will be required to comply with Cleveland Area Hospital’s attendance policy. This includes holidays and inclement weather. Employees are expected to arrive at their position, in uniform, and using the hospital time system, be clocked in promptly at the beginning of their shift.

EDUCATIONAL/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  1. High School Graduate or equivalent.
  2. Satisfactory completion and graduate of formal Radiology Technology education in an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  3. Registered/Certified in good standing by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, ARRT-R.
  4. Holds more than one Licensure in a Radiologic Modality.
  5. At least a minimum of (6) years of practical experience and capabilities in the field of Radiologic Technology involving all patient age groups ranging from infant-pediatric-geriatric.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION:

This position could have access to patient confidential records and must comply with HIPAA regulations as well as Compliance Policies.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee can safely push up to 20% of your body weight and pull up to 30% of your body weight. 2 That means a 140-pound female can safely push up to 28 pounds and pull up to 42 pounds. Utilizes good hearing, vocal and visual skills. Occasionally requires bending and stretching. Pushing and pulling. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
