Position Summary:

The primary functions of the Special Customer Order Associate will be to handle all operational processes from start to finish for orders that don’t fall within our everyday order protocol. This includes picking, fabrication, checking, loading, and producing MTR’s as needed. Individuals will be cross trained to perform all of these functions. The SCO Associate provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers and demonstrates strict confidentiality with all team members while serving as an ambassador of our culture.

Essential Functions:

• Cut, thread, roll groove, cut groove, or bevel pipe ends as requested
• Gather pipe fittings using forklift, stand up order picker, and cart
• Pick pipe using overhead crane and/or unassisted
• Double check order products and quantities
• Load material safely and according to customer requests
• Publish MTR’s for fittings that require them
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, and continuous quality improvement objectives.
• Adheres to all Company safety rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must have completed all onboarding ASA product knowledge courses.
• Complete understanding of the picking, checking, and loading processes.
• Must be able to safely operate the overhead crane.
• Requires the safe operation of sit-down/ stand-up forklifts.
• Requires the ability to effectively build rapport with both office and operations staff.
• Requires intermediate computer skills (web search, Microsoft Office, Xerox).
• Requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Must possess strong mathematical aptitude.
• Must be able to prioritize multiple responsibilities and manage time effectively.
• Must be able to communicate in English with regard to the essential functions of the position.

Required Experience and Education:

• At least 2 years of experience in distribution order fulfillment.
• Demonstrate ability to lead and complete projects with little to no supervision.
• Experience in at least two of the following areas: MTR’s, fabrication, pipe loading, PVF picking, checking, specialty order picking (labels, special packaging, etc.
• High School diploma or GED

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.
• Must commonly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Requires visual, hearing, and speech acuity.
