SUMMARY

As a Transitional Living Program Therapist, you will provide individual therapy (in-home and virtual), crisis intervention, and ongoing assessments to improve the mental health, behavioral health, and wellbeing of clients ages 16-24. The Therapist will also provide clinical oversight to the program case managers to support clients’ mental and behavioral health. You will serve as the program’s subject matter expert on mental and behavioral health and interventions to support client needs. This position will work closely with the care team to promote healthy, productive behaviors to empower youth to live independently. One on one engagement with youth takes place throughout St. Louis area where youth reside.

Your Impact and Key Responsibilities Individual Services
  • Complete Mental Health Assessments and make recommendations for youth’s ongoing mental health treatment and care.
  • Meet weekly with all youth in assigned transitional living program for the purposes of building rapport, providing therapy, and assisting with linkages to behavioral health services in the St. Louis community.
  • Utilize therapeutic skills to support youth in crisis.

Care Coordination

  • Attend all internal and external meetings for assigned youth.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to assess if the organization can meet the youth mental and behavioral health needs and facilitate the connection to external services as necessary.
  • Report safety concerns and boundary violations in accordance with agency policy.
  • Transport and accompany youth to behavioral health appointments as necessary.

Team Support

  • Attend weekly team meeting in assigned transitional living program, providing guidance to colleagues on how to best meet the therapeutic needs of youth.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on mental health related topics.
  • Facilitate periodic training opportunities for agency colleagues.
  • Provide oversight of case management services.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive and appropriate relationships with youth.
  • Complete all documentation in accordance with agency standards.
  • Participate in all required trainings and team meetings.
  • Act in accordance with all organizational and legal protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling
  • Clinical licensure preferred, provisional licensure will be considered
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with young people ages 16-24
  • Experience with trauma informed and culturally competent practices
  • Success preparing and leading therapeutic groups
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in a transitional living setting and working with families, preferred
  • Case management experience, preferred
  • Valid Class E driver's license

Job Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • High competency in assessment, intervention, and documentation 
  • Awareness of effective crisis intervention techniques 
  • Working knowledge of community support services and resources 
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based treatments such as, but not limited to: Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Art Therapy, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
