Objective:

The Design Drafter will be responsible for preparing manufacturing drawing packages using CAD software and 3D modeling tools (AutoCAD and SolidWorks), interpreting design requirements, managing product BOMs, providing documentation and manufacturing support.  This multi-faceted position will include managing all production design files and creating new design files from notes or sketches and working to develop standardized documentation throughout the manufacturing process.


Responsibilities:

  • Own the master production files and BOMs for all Newton Crouch equipment including but not limited to trailers and related components, parts component and assembly drawings, hopper drawings and assembly diagrams, etc.
  • Calculating dimensions, structural limitations, and measurements for designs.
  • Drafting designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Create drawings with precise dimensions along with electrical and hydraulic layouts.
  • Collaborating with the production and sales teams to review drawings and designs.
  • Communicate and coordinate with production, engineers, and sales teams to ensure custom drawings meet customer’s needs.
  • Making adjustments to drawings according to feedback from production, engineering, or sales.
  • Execute CAD file modification (i.e. blocks, layer management, viewport, and scale).
  • Create methodology of updating and maintaining current drawings – document number and version control system.
  • Ensuring designs comply with company regulations and quality standards.
  • Responsible for creating layouts and nests for CNC/Plasma machinery and support systems.
  • Work with planning to manage the programing and scheduling of plasma machinery operation.
  • Learn TruTops software and manage programs for press brake and bending applications.
  • Continuously grow your talents and capabilities
  • Assist production team in creating fabrication and manufacturing manuals.
  • Assist parts team in creating drawings for customer equipment manuals.


Background and Experience:      

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, design, or a similar field is preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience as a design drafter or a similar role.
  • Understanding of or aptitude to learn Agricultural Equipment design and application.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Proactive attitude
  • Working knowledge of or capability to learn CAD software, drawing programs, and 3D modeling tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and TruTops.
  • Attention to detail
  • Solid math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
