Job DescriptionJob DescriptionLouisiana Nurse staffing is looking to hire an Ultrasound technologist to join our team We are seeking qualified ultrasound technologists to work on contract in New Orleans/Metairie facilities.

Job Description:

  • The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the Radiology Department, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA)
  • The Ultrasound Technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times, requires initiative and independent judgment, and is self-motivated to increase knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve
  • Performs Those Duties Involved With Pediatric Ultrasound
  • Performs all Ultrasound procedures within scope of knowledge and qualifications on pediatric patients
  • Performs all procedures per approved and requested pediatric standards
  • Confirms patient identity, body part, and body side for every patient prior to the procedure
  • Positions patients as determined for specific studies, specific ages, and specific conditions
  • Provides immobilization as required
  • Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis
  • Selects and operates equipment as directed
  • Due to the absent or limited communication skills of pediatric and special needs patients and their inability or reluctance to follow instructions, pediatric Ultrasound Technologists are required to have extraordinary skills, knowledge, patience, composure, and poise adapted for these patients
  • The pediatric Ultrasound Technologist must be able to gently persuade the pediatric and special needs patient to effectively work with them and ease the child's fear and anxiety during imaging procedures
  • The pediatric Ultrasound Technologist must provide support and assistance to the pediatric patient as well as their families during the child's procedure
  • The pediatric Ultrasound Technologist offers emotional and physical support working together with the medical team attending on children
  • Assists physician with exams
  • Assists in the diagnosis of disease by consulting with Radiologists
  • Processes and sends images to PACS
  • Documents information per established guidelines
  • Ensures compliance with all safety regulations to guarantee the protection of patients, staff, and visitors
  • Demonstrates pediatric-specific skills and knowledge to perform all procedures using appropriate techniques and methods to produce high quality exams while ensuring patient comfort and protection
  • Responsible for designated work area (supplies, cleaning rooms)
  • Reports equipment malfunctions immediately
  • Takes the initiative and uses independent judgment
  • Assists in performing first aid when necessary
  • Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination

Qualifications:

  • BLS required by the American Heart Association
  • ARDMS
  • Candidates must have maternal fetal medicine experience

Shift:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8a - 4:30p then Fridays 8AM-12:30 PM
