Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab Tech

Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision and/or direction of the Cardiac/pulmonary Rehab managers or staff working in their absence, performs various duties to provide increased supervision of participant activities. Follows established policies and procedures of the hospital and the Rehabilitation departments.
- Attends exercise sessions as scheduled. Notifies appropriate staff member if unable to attend. Attends all scheduled staff meetings. If unable to attend, obtains information from the meeting minutes.
- Assists professional staff with monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Assists in doing blood pressure and oxygen saturation checks on all participants’ pre and post exercise and watching for abnormal responses on the telemetry device.
- Reports any significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant's status, etc.) to the nurse or other professional staff supervising the program immediately.
- Charts and documents participant information on progress notes. Talks with participants and reports pertinent information concerning participants to the nurse or exercise leader. Maintains strictest confidentiality
- Checks emergency supplies and equipment for proper function and adequate supply on a regular basis. Cleans exercise room and equipment on regular basis. Stocks necessary supplies as needed.
- Assists in entering data for the rehabilitation program outcome data records. Summary to be sent to referring physician and team members as needed.
- Demonstrates an understanding of cardiovascular and pulmonary anatomy, physiology, and identify common cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions limiting or otherwise influencing the prescription of physical activity, dietary intake, lipid management, smoking cessation, or stress management.
- Incorporate the concepts of risk stratification and sensitivity/specificity in the determination of the severity of disease, expected rate of improvement, and long-term prognosis.
- Follows multidisciplinary assessment data and comprehensive plans of rehabilitation, including attaining reasonable goals.
- Demonstrate an understanding of how an exercise prescription, is developed. Demonstrates knowledge of methods, strategies, materials, and technologies helpful in promoting behavior change.
- Demonstrate ability to detect adverse changes in cardiac or pulmonary status, understand the significance of the changes, and alert appropriate members of the health care team.
- Other duties as capable and assigned by the professional staff, i.e., leading warm–up and cool–down exercises, assessing heart rates and setting machines according to the exercise prescription.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- BLS Certification
- Current Kentucky Certified Nursing Assistant Certification required
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:15 am - 3:15 pm. Tuesday & Thursday 6:15 am - 10:15 am
