Job Overview: The Laboratory Pathologist will be responsible for examining and interpreting laboratory specimens, providing diagnostic information, and supporting the clinical team with expert consultations. This role involves working closely with medical professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses and contribute to patient care strategies.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Diagnostic Responsibilities:
    • Examine and interpret tissue samples, blood, and other specimens to diagnose diseases and conditions.
    • Provide detailed reports on findings and make recommendations for further diagnostic or treatment actions.
  2. Clinical Consultations:
    • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to discuss diagnoses, treatment plans, and patient management.
    • Offer expert opinions on complex cases and provide guidance based on laboratory results.
  3. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure accuracy and reliability of laboratory tests and results.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control and assurance procedures.
  4. Research and Development:
    • Stay current with advancements in pathology and diagnostic techniques.
    • Contribute to research initiatives and the development of new diagnostic protocols.
  5. Educational Responsibilities:
    • Educate and train laboratory staff, residents, and medical students on pathology techniques and procedures.
    • Present findings and participate in continuing education activities.
  6. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Adhere to all regulatory and accreditation standards for laboratory operations.
    • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with a specialization in Pathology.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Pathology.
  • Proven experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Strong diagnostic skills with a thorough understanding of pathology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with medical staff and patients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and diagnostic tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while examining specimens.
  • Manual dexterity to handle delicate laboratory equipment and specimens.
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment with exposure to biological materials.
