The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden has been recognized as one of the most beautiful display gardens in America and has 17 major gardens, 29 smaller ones, and 2 signature gardens throughout its 66 acres. These are A Tasteful Place, a fruit, herb, and vegetable teaching garden, and The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden; an 8-acre outdoor science museum teaching life and earth science principles in an engaging way. As the number one rated visitor destination in Dallas by Trip Advisor, it is known for 5 seasonal color change outs, enabling the garden to have year-round color. The garden has a budget of $22 million, an average visitation of over a million guests a year, and a membership base of over 34,000.


JOB SUMMARY:

The Ticket Booth Lead role is to maintain a productive and efficient work team, by coordinating staff in the appropriate positions to check in guests according to the Dallas Arboretum’s policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • 1st point of contact to de-escalate upset guests
  • Coordinate work between ticket booth agents
  • Submit a daily end-of-day report
  • Timely open and close cash drawers; ensure drawers are balanced at the end of the shift
  • Monitor for restricted entry items
  • Maintain crowd control standards on low and high-volume days
  • Maintain basic knowledge of Dallas Arboretum policies and updates.
  • Adapt, as needed, to any role in the ticket booth department.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school education or equivalent
  • Leadership experiences desired, but not required
  • Minimum of six months of cash handling experience and point of sales register experience.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; some computer experience required.
  • Physical ability to stand indoors and outdoors for extended periods, regardless of weather.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
    • Must be able to work both Saturday and Sunday weekly
    • Must be able to work a minimum of one weekly early morning shift during our Early Member Morning Walks
    • Must be able to work at least 3 evening shifts weekly during our Holiday at the Arboretum at Night Festival.
