Southern Seven Health Department is seeking candidates for a internship that is based at the Rustic Campus of Shawnee College in Ullin, Illinois.
Intern conducts field and office activities related to Environment Health and Safety programs and prepares reports and presentations related to those activities. Duties include collection of ticks and mosquitos. It would average about 20 hours per week.
Timeframe: May- late July 2024
Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age. General interest in environmental sciences is preferred.
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Job Duties:
- Prepares electronic inspection reports an presents findings
- Collects under prescribed methods environmental samples for laboratory analysis to ensure compliance.
- Investigates public complaints regarding environmental health problems and hazards and initiates enforcement or corrective action as required.
- Travel to collection locations then collection of tick and mosquito specimens
- Ability to navigate field conditions
- Maintains field records, inspections, investigations, and documentation of all work performed.
